AN AVALON WESTERN
Rattlesnake Gulch
by Marjorie M. McGinley

Unfortunately for Dan Turner, sheriff of a small town in Northern California, there is nothing routine about his annual visit to Rattlesnake Gulch. Goats and chickens are missing. Troublesome rumors are circulating about the recluse. Something funny is going on with that orphaned kid Dennis. The judge isn't quite himself. And then there's the murder. . . . The sheriff certainly has a lot to do before he can return to his other job--saving the townspeople from robbers.

Marjorie M. McGinley began to write in college while she attended Western Connecticut State University, stopped for a while when she was raising a family and teaching elementary school, and then began again. She has had many short stories and poems published, and has written two prize-winning plays. This is her first published novel. Marjorie was born in Nyack, New York, and grew up in rural Connecticut. She lives on the Connecticut shoreline.

Rattlesnake Gulch is Marjorie's second book for Avalon.
