AN AVALON WESTERN
The Ghost of Blue Bone Mesa
by Kent Conwell

When Jefferson Davis Travis hires on at the Diamond B in the high desert of Northwest Arizona, he has no way of knowing he had ridden into the middle of a sinister plot of murder and theft cooked up by Stump Broker, the foreman of the ranch. Unable to turn his back on B.J. and Emily Benson, the heirs to the Diamond B, Jeff hides them in the Anasazi ruins, which legend claimed were haunted by Blue Bone, the last chief of the vanished tribe. From such an unlikely hideout, Jeff swears to drive away the rustlers who had taken over the ranch. Badly outnumbered, his only chance is to frighten them into flight, and to do that, he resurrects the ghost of Blue Bone Mesa.

Kent Conwell grew up in the Texas Panhandle, in the town of Wheeler, population 848. When his family moved to Fort Worth, he spent many hours at the stockyards, but he still managed to earn his bachelor's degree. After moving to Port Neches, Texas, Kent married, earned a master's and a Ph.D., and achieved a successful career in education, but his love for writing and the west never waned. Over the years he has won short story, screenplay, mystery, and western fiction awards.

The Ghost of Blue Bone Mesa is Kent's eleventh book for Avalon.
