Amanda Parker likes her life in the city. But when Dr. Greg Sanders asks her to come back to her small hometown to care for her grandmother, she quickly does so, not realizing that her life is about to change. Once back in Durant, she makes it clear to everyone that her visit is only temporary. Her feelings about the small town begin to change, however, as she becomes more involved. Terry Zahniser McDermid was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and spent the next eighteen years of her life moving around the United States. When she returned to Iowa to attend college (Graceland College in Lamoni), she met her husband, Bob, a native of Los Angeles. They have since settled in the Midwest but continue to travel during the year.
