When recently widowed Joe Vanetti moves his children home to Rainbow Rock, Arizona, he is seeking peace and a chance to rebuild his life. Finding love is not what he expects, especially not with Angelica DeForest, the high school ice queen who always seemed so superior and so untouchable.
Angelica never intended for her peers to think her a snob; she just had no idea how to relate to them, having been the only child of parents old enough to be her grandparents. Now high school has long since passed and she is tired of being lonely. She deeply desires changes in her social life, but has no idea how to make them happen..
Both Joe and Angelica appreciate Arizona's beautiful rainbows. Now they both have to learn how to see their every side.
Susan Aylworth grew up in northeastern Arizona, near the Navajo and Hopi reservations. "The high desert is magical," she says, "timeless and spectacularly beautiful." She studies native cultures and teaches a university course in American Indian literature. She loves romance. "As a girl, I dreamed of being adored by many handsome young men, but it didn't happen until I was married and had six sons." She lives in northern California with her husband, a newspaper reporter, and two of their seven children, their youngest a daughter.
The Trouble with Rainbows is Susan's sixth book for Avalon.
