When Meg Taylor was enduring a painful adolescence in Rainbow Rock, Arizona, she never expected that little Jimmy McAllister, the son of a pig farmer, would turn into Prince Charming. She has a thriving career in the big city, far away from Rainbow Rock. She is only visiting her hometown as a favor to a friend. But little Jimmy McAllister, her old school chum, has become the most attractive man Meg has ever met. He deals honestly with Native Americans by selling their work and giving them a fair price. He is sweet and considerate, and he respects her. Nevertheless, Meg intends to stay for only a short while. Their differences are too great to be overcome. His home is the high desert; hers is the crowded city. Intentions notwithstanding, Meg soon discovers that plans made in the clear light of day fade as suddenly as a rainbow when confronted with the beauty of a Painted Desert moon.
